The quietest vacuum cleaners are usually the canister models. These are significantly quieter than, for example, stick vacuums. So if you really want the best silent vacuum cleaner, you can choose one of these:
At the moment, the AEG VX82-1 ÖKO stands out as the quietest vacuum cleaner. And although a cordless stick vacuum is much noisier than a canister vacuum, the Dyson V8 is a good alternative. The Roborock S6 MaxV is an excellent option if you prefer a robot vacuum cleaner. Robot vacuums are even more silent than regular models.
At Vacuumtester.com, we test each vacuum cleaner for its noise level. Using our own decibel meter, we measure the maximum sound level during various usage situations. And if a vacuum cleaner has multiple suction modes, we conduct the noise test in the highest mode.
For the results on this page, we paid attention to the following:
A quiet vacuum cleaner is on the wishlist of many people. And that's not very surprising, because who wants to work with a noisy machine for a longer period of time? Fortunately, we are seeing a trend emerging: vacuum cleaners with low noise levels are being developed more and more frequently.
It's good to know that in many cases, a vacuum cleaner with a bag and cord is much quieter than cordless, bagless vacuum cleaners. The vacuum cleaner bag helps to dampen the sound. The other reason is that a cordless vacuum cleaner operates on a battery, which often makes the vacuum cleaner much noisier.

The perception of a vacuum cleaner as quiet can be subjective, but generally, a vacuum cleaner is considered quiet when the noise level is below 70 decibels (dB). Below is a list of different sound levels and their descriptions:
It's important to note that noise levels can be subjective and can vary depending on individual sensitivity. What may seem quiet to one person may still be perceived as loud by another person.
The AEG VX82-1 ÖKO is one of the quietest vacuum cleaners we have tested. It is a canister vacuum cleaner with a bag, which contributes to its low noise level. Vacuum cleaners with bags generally have a lower noise level compared to bagless ones in many cases. Not only is it a quiet vacuum cleaner, but it is also an environmentally friendly choice. It is made of 57% recycled plastic.
Cordless stick vacuums are known to be somewhat louder than canister vacuums. However, the Dyson V8 scores much quieter than other cordless stick vacuums. With a noise level of 71.3 decibels, it is even quieter than the Dyson V15 Detect.
Looking for the quietest robot vacuum cleaner? Then the Roborock S8 MaxV is an excellent option. This vacuum cleaner produces even less noise than the average vacuum cleaner in general. It's a super smart vacuum cleaner that you can even activate when you're not at home, and yes, then you won't hear anything at all!

A vacuum cleaner may be quiet, but if it doesn't perform well, it's a bad choice. It's important to note that the vacuum cleaners we highlight here don't necessarily have to be the “quietest” vacuum cleaner. They are the best vacuum cleaners with low noise levels. But how is this list compiled?
Every vacuum cleaner we test at Vacuumtester.com is evaluated based on various factors. We check how well a vacuum cleaner removes dirt from different types of floors – from hardwood floors to carpet – and assess its maneuverability, among other things.

An important aspect is the user-friendliness of the vacuum cleaner, and a measurement of the noise level is an essential part of that. We measure the noise level using a decibel meter, following these guidelines:
By applying this research methodology to test each vacuum cleaner, we are able to compare them based on noise levels and identify the best choices.

A canister vacuum cleaner is often the quietest model of vacuum cleaner. This is because this type of vacuum cleaner is typically corded and equipped with a dust bag, which helps to dampen the noise. If you opt for a stick vacuum cleaner, you should be aware that this type of vacuum cleaner is louder than other models. A handheld vacuum cleaner often produces the most noise.
If you don't want to experience any noise at all, considering a robot vacuum might not be a bad idea. You can simply turn it on when you're not at home. It can't get any quieter than that!

At Vacuumtester.com, we take the testing of vacuum cleaners very seriously. We personally test each vacuum cleaner and maintain complete independence. In fact, to ensure our independence, we purchase every vacuum cleaner we test with our own funds. We do not accept free vacuum cleaners.

Look, I'm going to be completely honest here, this is the best test I have seen online. Great work and keep up the good work!
Are there any vacuum cleaners below 50 DB? I have a problem with complaining neighbors next to my apartment, and I can't risk them complaining more. So I really need the most quiet one out there, and 50DB+ is still quite noisy, right?
Thank you for your positive words, Emma!
Hi Corine, the quietest vacuum cleaner I've tested is a broom.😂 Just kidding! the quietest vacuum cleaner I've tested is the AEG VX82-1-ÖKO. It has a noise level of only 57 decibels, which is super quiet. There's a small chance your neighbors will still be bothered by it. You can check out my in-depth review here or watch my video on YouTube with the sound measurement. Don't forget to subscribe while you're there; it really helps me out! 🙂
Site is not updated, cause Tineco S11 is a way more silent than Dyson V8 but it is no indicated…
